Leonie van Bruggen

Mouad Ahdi of Study Association CS Ubuntu: “Leonie graduated as a BA Language and Culture Studies and as an MA Conflict Studies and Human Rights at Utrecht University. During her Master’s she has shown a considerable interest in the region of Central Africa, with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda and Burundi in particular. She is a former intern of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Rwanda, and in the years after her studies she spent a year at PAX for Peace volunteering and working as a Programme Officer for the DRC. Additionally, spent several months researching the causes and dynamics of various conflicts in Chad, at the Mennonite Central Committee -a Christian relief organisation. Among experiences prior to her MA-phase are an internship at the Dutch Council for Refugees (VluchtelingenWerk Nederland), where she researched security risks in refugees’ countries of origin, voluntary work abroad where she provided free judicial services in Cape Town, South Africa, and a communications internship at the Community Based Sociotherapy Program in Rwanda. Curious how Leonie got from studying at the Faculty of Humanities to where she is now, and find out more about her work experience? Come and meet her at the Career Night!”
